Tony Clement & Merv Tweed receive their "Affected" letters

On Friday, July 13, 2012 Treasury Board President Tony Clement made an appearance in Brandon, Manitoba where PSAC members handed him and Merv Tweed, Conservative MP for Brandon-Souris, their affected letters.

PSAC members asked him about the cuts to public services, including the reason EI was leaving the province and the issue of closing the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration (PFRA) in Saskatchewan. Mr. Clement stated "We have to put it in perspective. This country is facing tough times and if we lived in the UK, it would closer to 50,000 or more laid off." (Note: There are 29 million civil servants in the UK.) He also claimed that most affected people who received affected letters will keep their jobs.
