Canada Post had advised PSAC that their initial expectation of completing the pay equity payments by December 2014 was an optimistic forecast. So far they have given no new timeframe but PSAC expects the payments will continue well in 2015.

In the next video from the award-winning Prairies Video Project, members share stories about the fight for maternity leave/family leave in the 1980 CR strike and how their victory has since benefitted countless families.Sandra Clarke, PSAC/UTE member since 1969, was on the line for that strike. In the video she recalls what it was like before the union sisters fought for leave provisions.

March 8 is International Women’s Day, an annual celebration of women’s economic, political and social achievements. The 2014 theme for the internationally recognized day is “Inspiring Change”. It calls attention to the positive gains made, but the inequities that still exists and the work we have left to do.

On December 6 we recognize the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, a time to honour the countless women throughout Canada and around the world who are victims of violence in their lives. December 6 reminds us to do our part, each and every day, to ensure our community and our country is safe for all women and girls.
