Together, members of all federal public service unions will show that we want healthier workplaces and better public service for all Canadians.

On February 25, Senator Donald Plett put forward amendments to Bill C-279 that would strip it of its meaning and actually promote rather than prevet discrimination against trans people. We are calling on Senators to reject all amendments to the bill and vote to make it law now.

Capitalizing on the added traffic through the ports of entry for the Louis Riel Day long weekend, PSAC members handed out mailers to the traveling public. The postcards condemned the closures of Veterans Affairs offices across Canada and called on Prime Minister Stephen Harper to reopen the offices.

PSAC Prairies held the second webinar in our Webinar Wednesday series on February 11. The webinar, titled Retirement Revolution, outlined the current pensions landscape in Canada, including CPP, the attack on pensions and labour’s response.

The federal government announced today that it would be eliminating 44 positions at Veterans Affairs Canada. The cuts represent the final step in the contracting-out of treatment authorization for ill and elderly veterans to Medavie Blue Cross.
