Report of the Southern Alberta Geographical Rep to the Prairie Region Council submitted for the February 2015 meeting. This report covers the period from the last PRC meeting.

The Alberta Federation of Labour (AFL) will be holding its Convention at theCalgary Telus Convention Centre in Calgary, AB, from April 15th to 19th, 2015. As youare aware, the AFL does valuable work on behalf of all union members in Alberta and wehave benefited from our close affiliation with this organization. As PSAC Locals and Branches, affiliated to the AFL, I would encourage you to attend.Registration is $495.00.

Valentine's Day is a time to express your feelings and let the people in your life know what you think of them. So for PSAC members in Southern Alberta, the first person on their Valentine's list this year was Prime Minister Stephen Harper––and the message was anything but loving.

Dozens of people attended the free public screening of We Are Wisconsin at the Lethbridge Public Library on January 21, including PSAC members and the general public. The free screening was hosted by the PSAC Lethbridge and District Area Council to highlight the similarities between the 2012 Wisconsin struggle for labour rights and the challenges facing workers in Canada today. PSAC National President Robyn Benson was in attendence to introduce the film, speak about the parallels, and answer questions after the film.
