REVP Letter: Election Participation

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

On October 4, Manitobans will head to the polls to elect our next provincial government. Your vote is essential to contributing to the kind of community, city and province that you want to see for you and those closest to you.

But voting is just one, although very important, way to make your voice heard and to influence the results of this election. Another way you can support your preferred candidate or party is by canvassing.

Door-to-door face time with candidates and volunteers is the most effective way to build and identify support during an election campaign. Citizens generally view canvassing favourably because it shows the candidate wants to have contact with the voter and knows that each and every vote counts.

The commitment is approximately 2-3 hours, and the canvassing is done in groups of four. You won’t be expected to be an expert in party policies in order to do canvassing. It’s simply an opportunity to influence and encourage the public to vote with a brief conversation. Your energy and enthusiasm will have a direct impact on vote mobilization.

If you’d like to participate in canvassing in your area, contact your preferred candidate’s campaign office. Canvassing is a proven way to increase voter turnout. Your support and assistance is greatly appreciated.

In Solidarity,

Robyn Benson
