The Conservative government has failed once again to promote a positive vision for Canada by investing in the future. After several years of eviscerating the public services that Canadians count on, they continue to promote shortsighted policies designed to foster its reelection.

Phrases such as "peace of mind" and "insurance policy" were conveyed as part of the discussion.

On November 7 the PSAC Prairie Region hosted a telephone town hall with thousands of PSAC members across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Thousands of PSAC members across the Prairies joined the live and interactive telephone town hall about the government's latest omnibus budget bill, Bill C-4, which proposes to radically change our rights as federal public service workers.

More than 20cm of snow didn't stop devoted activists and concerned Canadians from protesting the Conservative Convention this past weekend. Thanks to all those who attended and spoke at the rally.

More than 20cm of snow didn't stop devoted activists and concerned Canadians from protesting the Conservative’s Convention and their impaired judgment and reckless policies. On Saturday, November 2, PSAC, working with various community groups and unions, organized the “Crash The(ir) Party!” rally across the street from the BMO Centre where the Conservative Party of Canada held their 2013 policy convention from October 31 to November 2, 2013.

Less than a week after reconvening Parliament, the Conservative government introduced Bill C-4, an omnibus budget bill that proposes to radically change our rights as federal public service workers.In addition to putting our lives at risk, this Bill puts every one of our collective agreement provisions in jeopardy.We know that Treasury Board wants to take away our sick leave. We know that the government wants to bring down the costs of its workforce. We also know that Tony Clement has no respect for our work and value that we bring to the public service.

(Calgary) November 1, 2013 – As the Conservative Party of Canada gather for their 2013 Policy Convention, the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) is calling on the Conservative government to stop the attack on workers and withdraw changes to federal labour legislation from the Budget Implementation Act that would gut collective bargaining rights and health and safety protections.
