On March 21, 1960, 69 black demonstrators were killed and 180 were wounded by armed white South African police in the Sharpeville Township. More than 700 shots were fired at black demonstrators who were peacefully protesting the country’s discriminatory laws.

PSAC is offering members the opportunity to participate in WorldPride 2014 events in Toronto. Members will be chosen from each region to represent our union. Prairies members would join members from across the country as part of the PSAC delegation and participate in the WorldPride Human Rights Conference, June 25-27, and WorldPride Parade, June 29, to name a few events.

Please see the attached below notice from PSAC National President Robyn Benson regarding boycotting National Public Service Week activities in June.

I respectfully ask that Prairies members not participate in activities in your workplace, whether employer or employee sponsored, and that you encourage other members to do the same.

Last Friday, LaVar Payne, Conservative MP for the Alberta riding of Medicine Hat, penned an opinion piece in the Medicine Hat News boasting about all the great things the Conservatives are doing for veterans. The opinion piece comes more than six weeks after the offices closed. PSAC Prairies Regional Executive Vice-President Marianne Hladun responded to the letter to set the record straight.

This is the official call for nominations for the position of Regional Executive Vice-President and Alternate Regional Executive Vice-President for the Prairies. Elections for these positions will be held at the Prairies Convention in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, June 27 - 29, 2014.

A nomination form is attached below.
