More than 60 union women traveled to Banff for the PSAC Prairies Regional Women’s Conference, held May 3-5 at the Banff Centre. All materials distributed to Conference delegates are available online, along with Conference Chair Nancy Johnson's report.

The Prairie Region Council (PRC) welcomes another new member with the addition of Darlene Lewis as Edmonton Area Council Rep. A Health Canada employee for more than 13 years, Lewis was elected to the position at an Edmonton Area Council meeting earlier this year.

These conferences are an opportunity for our members to continue the important work of maintaining and improving the militancy and activism of the Union in the struggle to improve the human rights and working conditions of all PSAC members.

Nancy Johnson is the Regional Women's Committee (RWC) Representative for the PSAC Prairie Region Council (PRC). She was also the Conference Chair for the Prairies 2013 Regional Women's Conference. More than 500 labour activists, leaders and delegates gathered for the Alberta Federation of Labour Convention to celebrate the achievements of unions, hear from dozens of speakers, and help chart the direction for the future. During Convention, Shannan Little, a PSAC member from Agriculture Local 30048 in Lethbridge, was awarded with the International Women’s Day Award.

 

May is Asian Heritage Month. It is an opportunity to recognize, reflect on and celebrate the long and rich history of Asian Canadians and their contributions to Canada.
