On January 18, 2017, Marianne Hladun sent a letter to Mr. Ahmed Hussen welcoming him to the role of Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship and briefing him on the ongoing issue of the closure of the Vegreville Immigration Centre.

The letter on behalf of the 280 PSAC members affected by the closure, also included all past correspondence to and from former Minister John McCallum.

All previous correspondence with the former Minister, and the latest letter to the new Minister, are attached below.

In 2016, we celebrated the 50th birthday of the Public Service Alliance of Canada.  Working together over five decades, we have won major gains for our members, and we have contributed to Canada being a better place for all who live here.

There are currently two job postings for the position of Regional Representative in the Prairies—Calgary and Winnipeg. These positions are term up to two months.

Please note: In addition to the term vacancy, this pool will serve to establish an eligibility list for future term Regional Representative positions in Calgary and Winnipeg.

A tentative agreement between PSAC and Treasury Board has been reached for the PA table, covering over 68,000 federal public service workers. The deal includes significant breakthroughs on “common issues,” such as sick leave and workforce adjustment, the details of which were hammered out by the common issues committee earlier this week.
