Contract negotiations have been ongoing for 10 days. While some progress has been achieved, there are still important issues of fairness and improving public services for Canadians that are yet to be resolved. PSAC has requested that a mediator be appointed and that talks resume within two weeks.

This week marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Public Service Alliance of Canada. PSAC was born when the Civil Service Association and the Civil Service Federation merged in 1966. Today, PSAC sits across the table and bargains with more than 300 different employers.

PSAC National President Robyn Benson is calling on Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Minister John McCallum to rescind the plan to close a case processing centre in Vegreville, Alberta.

On November 1, 2016, Marianne Hladun, PSAC Prairies Regional Executive Vice-President, presented to the Manitoba government's Standing Committee on Social and Economic Development. She appeared in front of Committee members in the Manitoba Legislative Building to submit PSAC's position on Bill 7: The Labour Relations Amendment Act.
