This course will bring together Local Executive members and committee members for skill development and knowledge building. Local Executive members and Committee members will learn to work more effectively by developing an understanding of their roles and responsibilities. The course will introduce alternatives to assist with decision-making processes, and help participants develop the tools necessary for managing Local/Committee workloads more effectively. This course is open to members in the Medicine Hat Area. This basic course will bring together Local Executive members and committee members for skill development and knowledge building. Local union representatives meet with management representatives as equals for various reasons – grievance hearing, union management consultations and sometimes for collective agreement negotiations. This course will develop your knowledge, skills and confidence to effectively consult with or confront management to enhance the union’s presence at the workplace.
