This course is the union’s key “introductory” education event. If you have wondered what it means to be a union member, how the PSAC works, and what happens to your dues dollars, then Talking Union Basics provides answers to these questions. The course also introduces the collective agreement, your employee rights and your rights as a member of the PSAC. You will learn about the many opportunities to be active in the union and ways you can make a contribution to building strong locals in the Prairie region.

*new date* An invitation to Local Activists to help build the PSAC's 2016 - 2018 Prairies Regional Education Plan. Local and Regional PSAC officers and activists are invited to an evening event to identify the key elements of the Prairies Education Plan for the next three years. A light dinner will be provided.  Costs for parking (if applicable) and Family Care (outside of regular working hours) will be compensated in accordance with the PSAC Family Care policy.

Cancelled due to low registration The Building the Union through Steward’s Work events are for active union stewards who want to develop their union-building skills and share collective solutions to workplace issues.  Participants will also draw on their steward experiences to help create the 2016 – 2018 Prairies Regional Education Plan.

This fall we will hold three NAPC courses for Aboriginal, Inuit and Métis members – one in Alberta (November 14-15), one in Saskatchewan (October 24-25) and one in Manitoba (November 7-8).

Please note, this event has been postponed until the new year due to low registration This two day session is an advanced session for union representatives (stewards, local officers, etc.) who already have experience and training on representing members with disabilities and on the duty to accommodation, and who have received some union training (or equivalent experience) directly related to representation (i.e. grievances handling course, steward training, etc.).

This training session will help stewards develop knowledge and skills that will assist them in representing members experiencing some forms of mental issues.

This one day course is for any member who would like to know more about safe and healthy workplaces. Participants will learn about the roles and responsibilities of workers, employers and unions, and discover the important events in the union's struggle for health and safety in our workplaces. We will discuss the pros and cons of the "internal responsibility system" and explore ways that PSAC members can exercise their rights to a safe and healthy workplace.
