Southern Alberta

The Southern Alberta region includes members in Calgary, Lethbridge and surrounding areas who serviced out of the Calgary Regional Office, responsible for more than 5,200 members.

On February 6 PSAC returned to the bargaining table with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). Throughout the Prairies and across Canada, PSAC’s CFIA members joined demonstrations at workplaces across the country in a massive show of support for their bargaining team.Members in Regina, Saskatoon and Brooks wore stickers bearing the slogan "Negotiate Now" to encourage the employer to reach a fair and equitable agreement with employees. Members were excited to partipate in the action and show a united front.

Finance Minister Jim Flaherty will table Economic Action Plan 2014 in the House of Commons on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. EST.Across the Prairies, union members from PSAC and other unions will gather to watch the release of the federal budget, discuss its impact on unions and union members, and speak out on behalf of working families across Canada.

Ignoring widespread opposition across the country, on January 31, 2014 the federal government went ahead with plans to shut down Veterans Affairs offices in Corner Brook, Charlottetown, Sydney, Thunder Bay, Windsor, Brandon, Saskatoon and Kelowna. The office in Prince George closed last year.Veterans mobilized and held protests and events across the country and PSAC was proud to be an ally and supporter of these events.
