 Priority StatusIf an opting employee takes “option c-ii” (education allowance and remains on LWOP), do they have priority status should a job come up while they are on LWOP?There is no priority status during this time. If they have not found employment after two years and are laid off, they will be on layoff priority for one year. 

Reasonable Job OffersWhat constitutes a reasonable job offer? If relocation beyond the headquarters area is required for a position, is it considered a reasonable job offer?

 

 Persons with Disabilities:What are the options for those employees who are in the midst of a DI application? If operational requirements are for F/T staffing, what choices do employees have based on health status and inability to commit to full time duties?The employer has a duty to accommodate and cannot discriminate against you due to a disability. 

May long weekend wass the start of solidarity activities for national groups that are currently in negotiations, including members from; Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA),  Boarder Services (FB), Parks, and Technical Services (TC).  

Notices:I've heard through the grapevine that any public servant positions in the RCMP detachments are not being looked at for layoff? Is this correct?Generally, all areas of the public service are being impacted by the cuts to the public service, but for more information on your specific department, consult with your component.

Term EmployeesIt appears that departments are continuing to staff positions without process. Why hasn’t all staffing ceased and all actors returned to their substantive positions until the surplus/affected individuals are allocated positions?The Treasury Board collective agreements states:

Education Allowance:What is considered an educational institution? Do the courses have to work towards a degree or can they be upgrading courses (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint)? How long do I have to use the $10,000 if I do not choose the two years of LWOP with the education allowance?The collective agreement does not limit the type of study, or the type of educational institution.  You simply have to submit receipts. Part-time or full-time study are both options.

The PSAC Prairie Region hosted a special Work Force Adjustment Telephone Town Hall held for all Prairies members on April 19, 2012 (listen to the audio clips).A total of 149 questions were asked, 18 of which we were able to answer live on the call. We also received 70 advance questions and 60 follow-up questions from members, submitted through our online form.All questions have been sorted and grouped into different categories for clarity.
