Dear Brothers & Sisters,Together, we accomplished much to improve food safety in 2011. Thanks to you and thousands of others who have intervened, Ottawa made improvements to food safety and continued to address the chronic shortage of inspectors last year.But much of this progress is now threatened.

PSAC member Howard Willems writes an open letter to all Conservative MPs and national media regarding the Conservative government's asbestos policy and exporting of asbestos to developing Southeast Asian countries.

 The recent labour disputes with CUPW and CAW have shown frightening new trends in bargaining that include a relentless attack on our retirement security and hard-earned health benefits, and a government that is all too willing to introduce back-to-work legislation if their corporate friends are inconvenienced.

Corporate think-tanks, such as the C.D. Howe Institute and the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, are pressuring the Harper government to attack our pensions in order to cut the deficit.

PSAC calls the results of a CFIB study into question for their flawed methodology because reputable compensation research firms don't use census data for comparing wage rates between jobs.
