PSAC has asked for a court order to stop the government from going ahead with their plans to remove sick leave provisions from collective agreements in the federal public service.

The PSAC Prairie Region held a webinar on May 13, 2015 to discuss the Budget Implementation Act (Bill C-59), which authorizes Treasury Board to modify collective agreements to remove sick leave and impose a short and long term disability plan outside of collective agreements.

PSAC bargaining teams return to the table with Treasury Board this week to continue negotiations and to fight for healthier workplaces.Bargaining teams last met with the employer during the week of November 18, seeking to improve workplace conditions on behalf of more than 100,000 of our members. The teams put forward proposals that would both protect workers and strengthen public services for all Canadians.

This webinar will focus on how bargaining works and the process required to implement a collective agreement within federal jurisdiction.

The next federal election is scheduled to be held on October 19, 2015. To act a reminder of this, we are calling on members to mark this day on the 19th of each month with actions in their workplaces and locals. These actions are meant to shed light on the destructive policies and reckless cuts of the Conservative government. Actions will also demonstrate solidarity and support for PSAC bargaining teams and will continue up until the 2015 federal election.
