Bargaining

The PSAC's newly elected bargaining teams for the PA, FB, TC, SV and EB groups will be meeting in Ottawa from July 7th to July 11th for the start of negotiations with Treasury Board. PSAC previously received notices to bargain for these groups. The bargaining teams are united in their resolve to defend public services and the working conditions of those who provide them. This notice promoted a new employer strategy for managing sick leave and long-term disability across the federal public service, but it failed to mention one very important fact: this new strategy has not been negotiated with your union.

Changes to the Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP) were made following discussions between Treasury Board and the Plan's Partners Committee, which includes federal public sector unions, retirees and employer representatives. Discussions were held under threat by the Government to legislate rollbacks to the Plan.

PSAC’s Treasury Board Bargaining conference closed on a determined note Sunday, as more than 300 union members committed to defending workplace rights and benefits in the next round of bargaining. Only days after the government introduced a federal budget calling for even more cuts to crucial programs, participants pledged to stand up for public sector workers and the services they provide.

On February 6 PSAC returned to the bargaining table with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). Throughout the Prairies and across Canada, PSAC’s CFIA members joined demonstrations at workplaces across the country in a massive show of support for their bargaining team.Members in Regina, Saskatoon and Brooks wore stickers bearing the slogan "Negotiate Now" to encourage the employer to reach a fair and equitable agreement with employees. Members were excited to partipate in the action and show a united front.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights reached a tentative first Collective Agreement which was finalized on December 17, 2013.
