The Saskatchewan Federation of Labour (SFL) Young Workers’ Conference is an opportunity for young trade unionists from across the province to come together to learn about issues affecting workers, develop new skills, and strategize about how to make our unions and labour movement even stronger. 

The Public Service Alliance of Canada welcomes the new government’s move away from austerity and its commitment to invest to improve the lives of Canadians, at least in the immediate future.

“Federal public service workers want to deliver on commitments made in the federal budget. That requires departments having the resources they need to serve Canadians,” said Robyn Benson, PSAC National President.

In 1966, the United Nations proclaimed March 21st as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

While there has been some progress with respect to racial justice, racism persists in Canadian society, there has also been some erosion of human rights over the past decade. 

As budget day approaches, the Public Service Alliance of Canada is calling on Finance Minister Bill Morneau to create real change by reinvesting in the federal public service for the immediate economic benefit of all Canadians.

“We urgently need to see a new approach to the economy from this government. The Liberal election platform promised to improve the quality of public services, including reducing wait times and increasing access to in-person services. We will hold them to that,” said Robyn Benson, PSAC National President.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada, along with 80 other Canadian organizations and institutions condemn the assassination of Berta Cáceres, general coordinator and co-founder of the National Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras. Berta was assassinated on March 3 in La Esperanza, Intibuca after several individuals broke into the house where she was staying and shot and killed her.
