Updates

If you have not yet had the chance to volunteer, we would like to encourage you to in any way you can. Many of you have a Volunteer Day in your Collective Agreement and this would be a perfect example of a time to use it.

Join other members for an update on bargaining. Events are taking place across the prairies to keep members informed of our bargaining efforts.

We are deeply concerned by the ongoing forest fire in Fort McMurray, Alberta. There are no reported deaths or major injuries as of this moment. We have communicated with elected PSAC union representatives in the region to check on the safety of our members in the area.

Court Challenges Program

PSAC welcomes the government delivering on its promise to reinstate the Court Challenges program. This will improve access to justice for equality-seeking groups.

The former Conservative government cancelled the Court Challenges Program in 2006.  The budget document notes, “This program has been instrumental in bringing cases to the courts that clarify and assert Charter rights”.  However, for the program to be meaningful, it must have adequate funding and resources.

We are happy to invite resolutions for the upcoming PSAC Prairies Regional Women's Conference, June 11-12, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
