In October, Clint Wirth, Regional Representative - Health & Safety, kicked off the Prairies health and safety tour with worksite visits and training throughout Saskatchewan. The tour continued earlier this month with stops in Alberta.

The Manitoba Federation of Labour will hold its annual Health & Safety Conference November 17-18, 2014 at Canada Inns Polo Park under the theme "Health and Safety through the Eyes of the Union".

August 12 is International Youth Day, a day endorsed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1999 in a resolution upon the recommendation by the World Conference of Minsters Responsible for Youth.  This year’s theme is “Youth and Mental Health.”

To recognize National Day of Mourning, we're releasing a special edition of the Prairies Video Project to highlight asbestos awareness.This video highlights the work of the Saskatchewan Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (SADAO), a non-profit organization co-founded by former PSAC member Howard Willems, and the development of Bill 604, "Howard's Law".

April 28 is recognized as the National Day of Mourning. On this day, we are reminded of the grim statistics of workers who have died or been injured in Canadian workplaces. Still many more have been discouraged or prevented from claiming compensation they were entitled to.  We also remember the fact that these numbers are real people with real families.

(Calgary) November 1, 2013 – As the Conservative Party of Canada gather for their 2013 Policy Convention, the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) is calling on the Conservative government to stop the attack on workers and withdraw changes to federal labour legislation from the Budget Implementation Act that would gut collective bargaining rights and health and safety protections.

With all the recent changes in health and safety, it’s a great time to reflect on some of the issues PSAC has been pushing forward. For some, this may be new information. For others, it will be a review or an inspiration to keep pushing forward to ensure our members return home safe and healthy.
