Annual fundraising drives for United Ways across the Prairies have kicked off and we’re asking PSAC members to reach into their pockets and continue their pattern of giving generously. Supporting this important community-focused charity is one of the best and most effective ways to reach out into your local community.

PSAC welcomes the NDP’s proposal to re-institute a minimum federal wage and to increase it gradually to $15 an hour by 2019. While the NDP proposal would not cover workers employed in the federal public service, PSAC still thinks it would be an important step toward improving conditions for all workers.

Our union spent the week of September 9th in negotiations with Treasury Board. We were united in our mission to improve working conditions and reject attacks on crucial benefits such as sick leave.

During negotiations with the Public Service Alliance of Canada, federal government negotiators tabled a proposal that would gut the sick leave provisions for employees of the federal public service.

The Seventeenth National Triennial Convention of the Public Service Alliance of Canada will be held at the Québec City Convention Centre in Québec City, Québec beginning Sunday, April 26 and concluding Friday, May 1, 2015.

The Lethbridge & District Labour Council (LDLC) held the annual Labour Day BBQ on a sunny Saturday, attended by over 300 people. Hamburgers, hotdogs, popcorn, sno-cones and water were among the items served. Various children's activities were also offered. The local CTV affiliate interviewed LDLC President Rick Merrick and posted the event on social media.
