Work Force Adjustment – April Notices

PSAC cannot comment on WFA notices until we can confirm that members have been informed, a process carried out by management. We can confirm that as of April 13, 2012, 7,302 of our members in 31 departments received notices saying they could lose their jobs. Those included 1,043 members from the Prairie Region. The departmental breakdown for the Prairies includes:

This week is a very dark one for many PSAC members across the country. Thousands of members received notices from their departments advising them that they are "affected employees", or worse, under the WFA. In some cases members were advised that the section or organization that they are working for is shutting its doors.

GLBT Members and Allies of the Prairies:

April 11, 2012 is the International Day against Bullying, Discrimination, Homophobia and Transphobia in schools and communities.

This is a Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) initiative that brings all Canadian unions into local schools and communities for a day. PSAC is a member of the CLC.

In the months leading up to the election, the Alberta Federation of Labour gave each provincial party a chance to demonstrate where they stand on the issues important to working Albertans, including Oil Sands and Economy, Health Care, and Tax Giveaways.

Presently in Tobique First Nation in New Brunswick there are 50 families that have been removed from their homes due to major flooding. As of today we do not have the final tally of the damage that was done to the Tobique Fist Nation.

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

On April 23, you will have the opportunity to influence the political landscape in your province as Alberta heads to the polls to elect the representatives who will guide your province over the next four years.
