Thousands of PSAC members from across the Prairie Region joined our telephone town hall last week on Bill C-4, the government's latest omnibus budget bill that will dramatically change health and safety laws for workers under federal jurisdiction. It represents a fundamental shift that will make federal workplaces more dangerous, and make it more difficult for workers to refuse dangerous work

On November 7 the PSAC Prairie Region hosted a telephone town hall with thousands of PSAC members across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Thousands of PSAC members across the Prairies joined the live and interactive telephone town hall about the government's latest omnibus budget bill, Bill C-4, which proposes to radically change our rights as federal public service workers.

Less than a week after reconvening Parliament, the Conservative government introduced Bill C-4, an omnibus budget bill that proposes to radically change our rights as federal public sector workers, and, by extension, is an attack against the rights of all Canadian workers.

Veterans and the workers who serve them say Minister Fantino needs to hear what they have to say before going ahead with closures of Veterans Affairs offices in their communities.

With Remembrance Day fast approaching, the Canadian government is choosing to throw money at an ad campaign to repair its image at the expense of Canada’s veterans. The government is ignoring the voices of veterans and is whitewashing its own betrayal with advertising. 

The Conservative government recently tabled in Parliament a suite of damaging changes to federal labour legislation. Developed in secret and bundled in an omnibus budget bill, these changes will put at risk our health and safety, take away our right to bargain on a fair playing field, water down the recourse rights of vulnerable workers.

PSAC is holding meetings across Canada to inform members of the impact of Bill C-4 on their rights if passed by Parliament.

More than 20cm of snow didn't stop devoted activists and concerned Canadians from protesting the Conservative’s Convention and their impaired judgment and reckless policies. On Saturday, November 2, PSAC, working with various community groups and unions, organized the “Crash The(ir) Party!” rally across the street from the BMO Centre where the Conservative Party of Canada held their 2013 policy convention from October 31 to November 2, 2013.

We know that the government wants to bring down the costs of its workforce. We also know that Tony Clement has no respect for our work and value that we bring to the public service.
