YWCA Canada’s Rose Campaign to end violence against women and girls takes its name from the rose button created after 14 young women were murdered on December 6, 1989 and commemorates December 6 as Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

Nearly one in ten people are living with a disability and on December 3, 2011 – International Day of Persons with Disabilities – we stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters to advocate for their right to live and work in society with dignity, autonomy and equality.

After more than 12 years as an active PSAC member, Sister Fran Mohr has retired from her job at Casino Regina, and will be stepping down as the Directly Chartered Locals (DCL) representative on the Prairie Region Council.

 

On December 6, 1989, 14 women were murdered at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal. They died because they were women. More than 20 years later, we still remember and honour them.
